The Springside Curriculum
Springside provides a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares children for life in a multi-cultural society.
-
Children learn to embrace the diversity of their fully inclusive community.
-
This includes children with different abilities and needs, along with children from different cultural backgrounds.
-
The school develops strong social and emotional relationships and children learn to support each other in a cooperative way.
-
School recognises the requirements of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helps them cope with the challenges of daily life.
Long-term Curriculum Map
Our Long-term Curriculum Map shows an up-to-date list of all the units taught in each subject, in each Year group.
We host this on a specially designed Padlet so that they can be kept up-to-date at all times, and so that all staff know exactly what should be taught, and when.
Our Curriculum is designed specifically for each unit to build upon previously taught units, and this is reflected in the design of the Curriculum Map.
Curriculum Drivers
Our Curriculum Drivers reflect the areas of need in our pupil's lives . Having analysed local statistics and utilising our knowledge of the context of our families, we have chosen 5 key drivers which ensure that our curriculum not only meets the needs of the National Curriculum, but also meets the needs of Springside pupils.
